For the individual person, maintaining a high standard of performance in competition, or training, or work is key to achieving your personal goals.

However, a sports massage doesn't just apply to athletes, it can apply to everyone. From office workers to builders to teachers to doctors etc. Every human has to eat, sleep (recovery) and move. A sports massage therapist will assist in covering the recovery phase.

your muscles can become tired and sore when put under excess strain and this is where sports injuries can occur. You may also develop ‘knotty’ tissue which can restrict certain movements and therefore be the catalyst in developing muscular dysfunctions within the body.

To prevent this, having a sports massage on a regular basis can help prevent and treat an injury, and also improve your movement and recovery.

Benefits of a sports massage for repair and recovery

  • Relieving muscle tension through continued or excess training

  • Aids the dispersion of lactic acid from muscles

  • Increases muscle flexibility in order to prevent injury

  • Aids the break down of scar tissue to keep muscles flexible

  • Helps prevent muscle soreness the day after training, or a race, or after hard or strenuous activity

  • Having a massage before activity can help your warm-up regime and also after to improve blood circulation to enhance recovery

  • The heat generated through different massage strokes aids a therapeutic benefit to the patient

  • Helps to increase plasticity in the muscles to improve on muscular dysfunctions
